SEPTEMBER

15th of September Green Drinks

This month we are collaborating with Community Education Whangarei and Chloe from Sanolifestyle to explore soapmaking along with many other cool courses available through CEW.

Chloe is a soap maker who started her journey with a simple mission to reduce the number of plastic bottles in her shower. Now she has her own soap studio making natural, plastic packaging free soaps that she sells all over Northland. She also teaches classes through CEW for those keen to get started on learning how to make their own! Come along for a demonstration on cold process soapmaking and a discussion on ways you can move towards a plastic free bathroom

6-7.30pm | Te Kamo High School, 1 Wilkinson Avenue, Whangarei. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

19th of September Second-hand September clothes swap

Get behind second-hand September and join us for a clothes swap! Instead of buying a new summer wardrobe, clean out what you're not wearing and replace it with quality pre-loved items.
So how does it work? Have a look at your current clothing. Is there anything that doesn't fit or doesn't spark joy that could be swapped? Clothes need to be clean and in a good condition. If any items need mending, bring them along to our free monthly Make and Mend sessions instead (see Ecosolutions website for more details). Clothes for all ages and genders are welcome.
Once you have a few items ready to swap, either drop them off to Chloe at He Awhi Rito Envirohub on a Tuesdays from 12pm-4pm or bring them along on the day. For alternative drop off times please contact Chloe on 027 287 8918

9am till 11am, He Awhi Rito, 8 First Ave, Whangarei

24th of September Make and Mend Workshop

This month we're maintaining the wardrobe with basic mending skills. Spring is a time for cleaning up, clearing out and getting things tidy, ready for summer. Hem those jeans, mend that hole in your favorite woolly jumper and reattach that button you just have not got around to fixing.

Bring your mending pile and we will tackle it together. Thanks to Intercept we have fabrics to choose from if you need some inspiration. All ages and skill levels welcome. Bring your own machine or use one of ours.

4.30-7pm, He Awhi Rito, 8 First Ave, Whangarei

26th of September Compost Workshop at Maunu Gardens

Kickstart your garden for spring! Join us for a FREE composting workshop.

You will learn:
- How to build compost that stays aerobic.
