Green Drinks
Green Drinks serves as a global grassroots networking initiative that brings together individuals monthly with a shared commitment to environmental sustainability in a relaxed social setting.
Held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Hosting alternates between Eco Solutions and Tai Tokerau Timebank.

Tuesday 17 March | 6.00-7.30pm | Green Drinks will be hosted by Whakaora Kai Food Rescue Northland and Whare Awhina Social Supermarket, 1 Woods Road, Whangārei, (look for the giant kereru on the side of the building).
Whakaora Kai partner with local businesses that have surplus food or food that may go to waste and match it to more than 120 organisations who receive kai and share it with communities.
In 2025, Whakaora Kai distributed 264,000kg of food, which saved our community $1,800,000 and prevented 638,000kg of CO2 emissions.
You will also get to see the Whare Āwhina Social Supermarket and learn how it works in partnership with Whakaora Kai to provide kai support with dignity.

Make & Mend Workshop

Come along to craft your own bucket hat or wide brimmed hat. This workshop is open to all ages and skill levels. Come and give sewing a go! Fabrics kindly donated by Intercept.. there will be plenty to choose from. Our Make & Mend workshops are supported by Whangarei District Council.

In this late afternoon slot you will have the opportunity to finish a sewing project, or sew a shopping bag. Join us if you are keen to give sewing a go! All ages and skill levels welcome.

Global Recycling Day is 18th March. Celebrate with us at our next recycling info session and improve your knowledge. Where can you recycle batteries, lightbulbs, polystyrene, drink cartons and other everyday items? Where does all of our rubbish and recycling go?Get all your questions answered when it comes to recycling and ways to minimise waste in your home. There will be a fun quiz to test your knowledge and you'll receive a recycling brochure to take home with you.

Crafting a Zero Waste Christmas
30 November | 10-12:30pm | He Awhi Rito Envirohub
We're running a workshop to look at fun ways to reduce the amount of waste we create this Christmas. We'll be creating re-usable/compostable wrapping and decorations that's personalised to you and your whānau.
There will be a variety of craft stations and everything you make on the day you can take home with you for free.
There will be activities for all ages. Bring the whole family and get creative in reducing your waste this Christmas - while making everything more personalised and fun!
Entry is free and you get to keep everything that you make on the day.

A&P Summer Show
Come find us at the A&P show! We'll be there providing free recycling and waste advice. As well as answering all your questions about composting and making your own zero-waste products. If you've missed any of our events this year, this is your chance to ask us about any of them. We'll also have an activity station to keep the kids entertained while you chat to us.
